Ethical framework for Artificial Intelligence and Digital technologies

The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Digital technologies (DT) is proliferating a profound socio-technical transformation. Governments and AI scholarship have endorsed key principles but lack direction at the implementation level. Through systematic literature review 59 papers, this paper contributes to critical debate on ethical DTs beyond high-level principles. To our knowledge, first that identifies 14 digital ethics implications for seven DT archetypes using novel ontological framework (physical, cognitive, information, governance). presents findings conceptual model with twelve propositions highlighting impact societal impact, as moderated by mediated organisational impact. intelligibility, accountability, fairness, autonomy (under cognitive domain), privacy information domain) are most widely discussed sample. Furthermore, related governance domain shown be generally applicable archetypes.
